A Sip of Happiness: Homemade Bubble Tea
Hello dear tea lovers! With this bubble tea recipe you can prepare at home, you'll both save money and enjoy a healthier drink than those in stores. Creamy, sweet, and full of those famous chewy tapioca pearls! How about stepping into the kitchen and making your own boba tea?
- 6 bags of black tea
- 4 cups of boiling water (for brewing tea)
- ¾ cup of non-dairy milk (or cream, for serving)
- ¼ cup of water
- ¼ cup of organic dark brown sugar (or date sugar or coconut sugar)
- ¾ cup of quick-cooking tapioca pearls
- 7 ½ cups of water (for cooking the pearls)
Alright, first steep the tea bags in freshly boiled water for 5-10 minutes and then let them cool to room temperature. Be careful not to let the tea become bitter.
Now things get interesting, prepare the brown sugar syrup by combining the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Stir until the sugar dissolves, bring to a boil, and let it cool.
15 minutes before serving, boil water in a medium-sized pot and gently stir in the tapioca pearls.
Cook the tapioca pearls for 6 minutes, remove them when they are soft and chewy. Rinse under cold water and mix with a bit of syrup.
Divide the cooked tapioca pearls among 3 large glasses, add ice cubes, pour in the tea and milk, then add the brown sugar syrup and stir.
Adjust the sweetness to your taste and serve with large boba straws or spoons. Enjoy!
A Sip of Happiness: Homemade Bubble Tea Cooking Tips
Be careful not to overbrew the tea to avoid bitterness. The pearls harden when they cool, so try to serve them slightly warm.
