Vegan Tortilla Delight - The Joy of Making at Home
Hello dear kitchen friends! Today I want to share a recipe with you that will allow you to create wonders in the kitchen: Homemade vegan tortilla! Believe me, with this recipe, you won't want to buy tortillas from the store again. This recipe, which we will create wonders with four simple ingredients found in all our kitchens, is both easy and a lot of fun. As the wonderful aromas fill your kitchen, you won't get enough of the taste of these soft tortillas.
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (281g)
- 1/4 cup olive oil (60ml) (extra virgin)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 3/4 cup very hot water (180ml)
Sift the flour into a mixing bowl. We ensure the flour is well aerated.
Add the olive oil and mix with the flour to create a crumbly texture. A bit of patience will be very useful at this stage.
Add the sea salt to the very hot water and stir until the salt dissolves. Don't worry, it's very easy!
Add the sea salt and hot water mixture to the mixing bowl and mix until it forms a dough. No need to overmix, just enough to form the dough.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface, flour your hands and the dough, then knead for about 2 minutes until smooth. If the dough sticks, continue adding flour.
Once the dough is smooth, form it into a ball, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rest for 30 minutes. Resting is always good!
Then divide the dough ball into 8 equal pieces. This stage is a lot of fun, isn't it?
Roll each piece of dough into a circle. It doesn't have to be perfect, just how you like it.
Stack the rolled tortillas on a plate with parchment paper between them so they don't stick.
Heat a large, thick-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Now things are getting exciting!
Once the pan is hot, add the first tortilla. It will quickly puff up and start forming bubbles on the surface.
Flip it and cook until both sides are nicely browned and the edges are dry (about 1-2 minutes per tortilla). Repeat until all your tortillas are cooked.
